MySQL DBA (Intermediate/Senior)
Ramius® Corporation — headquartered in Ottawa, Canada — develops and delivers social software that improves group communication and streamlines business processes. Ramius' core product suite — CommunityZero® — is a feature-rich, robust and scalable Web-based application built entirely in Java. Ramius is currently recruiting for a MySQL DBA (Intermediate/Senior).
Ideal Candidate
As the ideal candidate, you are a Computer Science or Software Engineering graduate who has spent a good part of your career managing production grade, fault-tolerant and high volume MySQL database installations. You are passionate about your work and want to stretch your skills and abilities by learning new and leading-edge technologies.
Minimum Education
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
Required Skills and Experience
- 3 years of MySQL database administration experience
- Deep knowledge of SQL and MySQL administration
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with other team members
- Technically savvy, results-oriented, and quality-focused
- Capable of working independently and as a strong team player on short-term projects
- Well-organized and meticulous individual
- An experienced communicator, both verbal and written
Responsibilities
- Develop and support MySQL database replication
- Optimize MySQL database performance
- Estimate MySQL database capacities; develop methods for monitoring database capacity and usage
- Establish mechanisms for data backup/restore of relational databases; provide restoration services as needed
- Develop and optimize physical design of MySQL database systems
- Develop application-specific fault-tolerant distributed database mechanisms
- Write SQL scripts for data manipulation and import/export
- Be available to provide production support during maintenance windows or downtime emergencies
Experience in the following area is considered an asset:
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle, Solaris, Linux and Java
