CommunityZero® Technology

Built entirely in industry-standard Java™, CommunityZero® online community software integrates the best of Internet and enterprise technology standards.

Ramius makes it easy for our clients to deploy online communities by delivering CommunityZero as software-as-a-service (SaaS). This hosted service offers you a simple and cost-effective way to ensure data back up and protection of your communities without the hassle of managing the site infrastructure yourself.

With Ramius' hosted service, there is no need to deploy any additional infrastructure or IT resources. Your communities are always secure and your data is always protected.

And CommunityZero's intuitive administrative interface simplifies community management while self-service tools and features make community building user-centric.

Highly Secure Data Center

Ramius' hosted service for CommunityZero is powered by an enterprise-grade infrastructure physically located within two separate carrier-class data centers (Toronto and Brampton, Ontario.) These data centers are owned and operated by Q9 Networks.

Q9 Networks' data centers provide a highly secure physical infrastructure, including the latest in biometric authentication, video surveillance, and around-the-clock security officers. The centers are engineered to eliminate any single point of failure, with multiple layers of redundancy in power systems, HVAC, and fire detection and suppression. All systems are monitored 24x7 through a Network Operations Center.

Q9 Networks provides Ramius access to an on-site network operations center and has a service level agreement (SLA) guaranteeing 100% network and power uptime capability for hosted Ramius customers. This SLA ensures your CommunityZero site is always accessible.

Enterprise Technology

The CommunityZero hardware environment includes multiple redundant enterprise Sun Microsystems servers, Cisco switches, Network Appliance filers, F5 Networks load balancers, SSL accelerators and more.

CommunityZero is a pure Java application. It includes the latest Apache Tomcat Servlet container and the latest version of the Sun Java Runtime Environment. The application servers operate on either Sun Solaris or Fedora Core.

Ramius monitors all hardware and software systems on a continuous basis with automated paging of on-call engineers. Redundancy and fault tolerance are key considerations at all times. The CommunityZero application software is deployed in a clustered server farm and has been engineered for horizontal scalability. This means your CommunityZero site can scale to support multiple communities with thousands of users.

Persistent Storage and Backup

With Ramius' hosted service, your communities are always accessible and always secure. All application information is stored in either an Oracle database server or on a Network Appliance filer. Both systems provide sophisticated data-management functionality in addition to unbeatable reliability and performance.

The database and file system have redundant standby systems in the event of an unrecoverable hardware or software failure. Data from both systems are backed up at one of Q9 Network's secure off-site data centers on a daily basis via a dedicated connection to another data center. The database standby environment is synchronized continuously throughout the day providing near real-time data backups.

Web Services Integration Available
